DX11's only real contribution to shader code is streamlining it a bit and exposing some more connectivity between shader cores to generally improve efficiency, not so much visual fidelity.

DX11's real contributions are: Hardware Tessellation and Compute Shader 5.0, and Dirt 2 chooses to apply Tessellation to all the things that aren't in those two shots (Cloth/Crowds/Water).

Additionally, no one can really go "full on" DX11 at the moment, as so many gamers cling to their WinXP copies like children to their blankets (the inevitable port to/from consoles limits this even further). Even the AVP devs admitted as much.
...

Guess what. When something does the same work, but faster, it also means that it can do more work at the same speed. Improving efficiency is directly related to improving visuals.

Then they better start doing that, than adding all kinds of effects that drop your performance a good 40%.
All benchmarks I've seen display DX11 being slower then DX10.
Even though they added more effects - true --- but reading your comment we should expect to see DX11 running all the glory it can, with the same speed as DX10 does, just because DX11 is supposed to be more efficient.

Your statement is true on paper, but I think we won't see more efficiency when it comes to DX11, all they will do is make use of the new technology and effects being offered instead of developing a better and stable experience.

Agreed. The heaven benchmark is worlds better then DirectX9. Considering how soon it came out after DirectX11, it probably doesn't even tap DirectX11 itself.

Im sorry, but that heaven benchmark is a joke. Ive seen a ton of games that can do better than that in DX9. I mean, flat stairs in DX9 and DX10?? I mean really?
