Default My latest Gamestop experience

Well, I felt that it might be beneficial to other gamers out there to share my latest experience shopping at Gamestop:

I visit the Gamestop in Alexandria VA, Pentagon City mall, and proceed to purchase one game, Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo Wii (gift for my little cousin). I take the empty case off the shelf and take it to the counter and the sales associate says that a used copy is available and asks if I would like to purchase the used copy. I say okay. He goes into the supply room, comes back out and says that a used copy isn't available, however, what he brought back from the supply room was a game in a ripped cd sleeve. So he places the game in the case I gave him off the shelf. I ask him how much it is. He says $52.99!

I ask for a discount since the game is clearly not new (as a new game would have been in a sealed case with plastic wrapping). He then tells me that it's like new and that there's nothing wrong with the game hence the price of $52.99.

After saying out loud "You're trying to sell me a used game at a brand new retail price" where everyone on line can clearly hear me, he turns around, opens the glass case behind him, and pulls out a brand new sealed Super Smash Bros.

I was so pissed off that he tried to sell me a used game in a used case for the price of $52.99.

Anyways, that's my rant, take warning.

It's a practice of Gamestop that I hate and one of the reasons why I no longer shop there. Putting an unused disc (presumably) into a case does not make it new, it's like-new at best and doesn't deserve the full price. It's similar to what some sellers do online, stating that they just opened it without playing it to "check the contents" and claiming that it is still brand new. When we buy new games for retail price, we want it factory sealed especially if you're a collector.

that's poor service... I would have walked out without paying and gotten the game from somewhere else.

My Gamestop does this to me EVERY time I get a PC game. None of them are sealed in the box. The only other store within 50 miles of me that sells PC games is Best Buy, and they actually have 5 times the selection of Gamestop.

I'm pretty sure this is standard practice at GameStop.
