I'm an avid fan of PC gaming, but I enjoy Xbox (though I do not own one, nor intend to ever). Now, my friend and I were arguing (very heatedly) over the advantages/disadvantages of each system (he's an Xbox/Mac fanboy, and he annoys me enough to make me act like a PC fanboy who says he likes Xbox). If anyone could help convince my friend that both are good for gaming, that would be nice (since apparently I don't exist when we argue...).

Unfortunately this thread doesnt belong in the hardware news section...To reply to your post I see nothing wrong whatsoever gaming with both pc and xbox. I have both and enjoy both. Some games will only be released on one or the other and if you only had one of the two, you may be missing out on an amazing game. That would be my answer.

Pc gaming is great because of all the mods you can get for games like extra maps and levels. Like unreal tournament 3 is much better on PC because of all the extra maps you can get. Also on PC we didnt have to pay for the new call of duty 4 maps and PC games are already half the price of console games (in UK they are).
The graphics are also much better on PC, most 360 games run at 1280x720 where as on PC you can choose the resolution depending on your GFX card ![]()

Someone quickly post some sort of hardware news related to this chat so we can get the argument going. I vote PC! Or maybe moving it to off topic would be a better idea.
__________________Think of it like this, Xbox is actually pretty good gaming system. The PC has most of it's games and then some it doesn't have. And normally the PC versions are better. Your friend will never agree because he uses an apple. Therefore he will hate PC's and will not listen to any logic you try to give him that uses the words pc and good in the same sentience, paragraph or page.

I prefer PC gaming myself. I've got a X360 on the same table my rig is on but I only bought it because I know some games will never come to PC. The thing I hate most about console gaming is price. New games are $60 a pop and some even reach $70 as collector's editions. It's like every time they make a new console, they make both the system itself and the games more expensive. In the end the PC comes to a great value for what it does. I just want an all-in-one solution for everything and that's what the PC offers me. However I know so many people that don't know crap about computers, and in that case a console would be a much easier solution for them.
IMO, as a system, the PC is superior in every way, but sadly lots of my favorite games aren't available on it. Though whenever they are available on PC, I won't waste my money on my X360.

Just try to play a strategy game on a console. The few that are out there suck (though that may be changing soon). Controls are also what makes FPS's better on a PC. Even though there are a bunch that I like on 360, nothing beats the precision of a keyboard and mouse.
Not to mention price. I can spend $1000 on a PC/monitor combo that will play any game for the next 2 or 3 years (plus I can surf the web, play music and movies, etc.) or I can get a console (let's pick the 360 Elite) and a TV to go with it that has a quarter of the storage space, inferior graphics, and imprecise controls that will no doubt be completely obsolete in just a few years.

PC, if you have highend system. REAL difference when playing games like Oblivion. Software and Physical modification is always open for PCs.

But thanks to the concept of money and marketing, I'll have to keep some consoles to play all of my favorite games. Exclusivity, what a tool. I wouldn't call some E7200 with 8800GT system high-end, yet it would still mope the floor with consoles in terms of quality.
