Default What's a good place to check game reviews?

Preferably user reviews, not commercial reviews, because I heard those reviews are "bought" by developers... Correct if I'm wrong, but that's what I heard.

No, they're not "bought". If that were the case, they would lose readers fast.

I generally just read GameSpot, I've never been led astray by them. They're not afraid to give a bad review. I watch a lot of X-Play on G4 too; they're not as useful overall as a print review, but it is nice to see actualy gameplay footage, and they are also not afraid to give a bad review (and openly mock the bad games, which is sometimes funny). It was a much better show hen it was ALL reviews though, I'm still not sold on this new format they launched in early 2008.

I usually read my reviews off GameSpot like VulcanDragon, but I usually don't buy a game based on a review. I've read some reviews on Gamespot that made the game sound bad, but when I bought it and played it I enjoyed it. I believe that reviews are more of a personal review. If a game seems really interesting to you go ahead and buy it and give it a try, the worst that happens is that it sucks and if that is the case you can always just sell it back on Ebay or something.
