Why Is There a Need for Console Subforum? - Overclock.net

This forum is primarily for discussing high end PC's and related stuff.
Consoles and console gaming are an antithesis of high end PC enthusiast gaming.

The console exemplifies everything that we stand against, chiefly outdated specs (no one here likes outdated specs), unupgradeability (clearly, upgrades are quintessential for PC enthusiasts.), bad graphics and low framerates.

Thusly I have concluded that having a console games subforum in the video games section attracts uninvited opinions of people who just like dumbed down games and unupgradeable "pop in disc and play" pc's.

I think that these people have a right to their opinion, but perhaps in a different forum,
because if people have conflicting opinions in the same forum it leads to flame wars erupting every now and then.

Like you said, they have a right to their opinion. You also have a right to ignore it.

What makes you think their opinions are any less uninvited than yours?

Because many pc gamers are also console games. For the typical pc gamer they will know more console gamers than pc gamers since pcs do cost alot more in the long run with upgrades, etc. I know a good amount of local pc gamers and go to lans once a month but my console friends like to game every weekend. Oh and dont forget the console exclusives or games where the pc version is a crappy port like GTA4.

Consoles are computer systems, just proprietary ones. TBH it wouldn't make any sense at all to not have them on the site.

i love my PC, but i still have 2 consoles. they are not mutually exclusive. the whole point of games is to relax and enjoy them, why not let everyone here relax and enjoy ALL games?

This. Consoles are computers, albeit outdated ones, but they still serve a purpose on this site.

While I can see you point, I believe your wrong. Especially with consoles starting to have limited upgradability. (Hard drives, os updates, etc) They are becoming more and more like a standard pc. I mean we even have them folding for us. Id say a section for them is completely appropriate.
