Default What gaming console to go with??

I have debated this topic for awhile now, the wife and I are really thinking about a new console even with the new prices for the holidays. But i am undecided in the direction i should go. And really want to get one after we decide on the 42" TV we get.

1. I have owned and still have a PS2 and have always enjoyed and still own the whole collection of Bond games and Medal of Honor games for the PS2. Plus a couple of need for speed games.

2. We have a little girl now, she is 1, and i know the Wii would benefit her later in the years and we thought bought both getting the Wii fit stuff to get back in shape.

3. The XBOX 360 i know nothing bought but have played a couple of games on it from friends. I do like it because i know you can use it to make your own games and load them on the 360, but i also know you have to have live, and im not wanting to go that route.

In general, im lost,
I do love first person shooter games and like playing a sniper a time or too, lol. But what you guys think??

The Wii has a lot more family oriented games where you, your wife, and your daughter can all participate in a wide variety of genres. IE. wii sports, mario party, etc... I think you'll benefit from this the most.

But uhh, be careful, please... youngsters with the wii remote is somewhat dangerous

ps. Make sure that wrist strap is ONNNNN. If you do happen to get the wii and the tennis racket make sure that thing is clipped on tightly.

If you go on craigslist or ebay you can get all 3 for pretty cheap.

I just bought an xbox 360 hdmi on ebay for $35 dollars

also got $200 ps3 for my 60 year old grandfather (he is a playstation fanboy believe it or not).

Do not worry about the wii. In the couple years it takes her to be able to have the motor skills to play a videogame of almost any caliber, the wii will be "last years" system. And for all the money you would spend in wii fit, its not going to do any good. Like any piece of "excercise equipment" if you do not have the motivation to use it, you dont need it.

However, my vote goes hands down to the PS3

xbox, because i HATE playstations controller. But if you already have a PS2, doubt that will be an issue . Wii is fun.

Anymore though, no matter what you get you will have a good time with. Good luck with the decision!

Consoles have a lifespan of about 6 years (i.e. release Gamecube 2002, release Wii 2007), with a few exceptions such as the PS2. So getting it now for your daughter at a later age doesn't really seem like a valid argument to me.

If you're unwilling to buy a Live membership, I'd say that rules the Xbox360 out. Online play is definitely that console's biggest feature.

Get a PS3. Wii later for your little girl (she still needs time to grow). Sometimes you can often get a game that's on Xbox360 for your PC when you can't play it on the PS3 (plus you wouldn't have to pay any online fee besides your ISP provider).
