You can't have a higher fps than your monitor's refresh rate.

Mine is 75Hz, so I can get up to 75fps. Most lcd monitors have a refresh rate of 60Hz.

yours a 75hz because its 19 inch, 1440x900 ... most LCD that can do 1440x900 can do 75hz with that.
anyway. altho I agree with your fist statement, having a higher FPS than your refresh rate sometimes helps, for example, in GTA4, in the menu, your cursor lags if its capped to the refresh rate, it doesnt if vSync is disabled. doesnt really matter anyway because the game itself obviously does not lag at 60fps .

one word: placebo. It is literally impossible to notice anything over your monitor's refresh rate. Unless that is your "average" FPS, and therefore is higher than 60Hz most of the time.
