Default PS3/XB360 Emulators

I was just wondering what stops hackers/crackers from making these and running them on PC? I am not interested, its just that I seen a PS3 commercial that said the PS3 does everything. You can imagine the things that went through my head at that point. Well this was one of them.

It takes alot of CPU power to emulate things. I'd expect emulation of current gen consoles in about 7 years. Heck, emulation of the last gen needs at least a decent computer, and is STILL buggy.

Interesting to note though: Xbox 1 used an x86 CPU, there currently is a project to have Xbox 1 games run natively on x86 based computers.

not positive about this but I think that the 360 and posibliy the ps3 use a different type of processor than the usual x86 computer.
So when creating an emulator you have to create a virtual processor, which requires the computer to be a lot faster than the thing it virtualizes.

For example my laptop can only run a gameboy game like 5x faster that an actual gameboy yet my laptop is probably 1000 times more powerful than a gameboy(they run at like 20mhz?)

Even PS2 emulation doesn't work perfectly on an i7.

An i7 would choke on a PS2 emu running something like Gran Turismo 4 if you get a super populated race going.

Simply too much overhead in the nature of emulating things. Sure, you could run those cheap, sucky little indie games that never sold for more than 5 bucks, but you won't be running the good ones any better than they originally ran on their i486 equivalent.

There hasn't been a good working emulator for the last gen yet, much less this one. And it's going to stay that way for a long time, unless/until someone stops trying to write a software emulator and turns their attention instead to creating a hardware level hypervisor. And good luck with that, I'll bet the architectures are so different that it may not even be possible.
