I recommend the E6850 due to higher voltage tolerance. The E8400s have been burning out occasionally during overclocking.

Check out my ES that I have for sale, it's a little more expensive than other ones, but it's cherry picked.

My budget on an e8400 sits as $150-$165, I think the e6850 is quite a bit lower but I will have to do some research.

One would think the "obsolete" 65nm's would fetch a lower price compared to the newer 45nm's, but as mentioned above, they don't seem to be as durable as the 65's. I've got an E8500 and a QX9650 and I'm REAL happy with both. But I've also got an old E6850 in storage that really is a beautiful chip. OC's nicely and runs very cool. If you find one for <<$$, be careful. I know I wouldn't part with mine for anything in the $150 range, it's too nice of a chip.
