Default what's teh best block design?

currently, i'm sketching a block design out, i'll have it shortly. what do you think is the best design?

ok, sketching and scanning didn't work, so i'l use mspaint for the job... should be back in a while.

here are the designs!: sorrry about the bottom one, i drew it w/ pencil in mspaint, and it looks really crappy...basically waht it is is a spiral design that has the inlet in teh center and teh outlet torwards the top of the block.

Whaz this for? CPU I assume? A straight flow through model would be best IMO. Winding around like that would be really hard to build and is weighty. Water goes in, flows though fins (lotsa surface area and not that weighty) and flows out. Simple and effective.

Cept for the fins, They should be way closer together and limited to a smaller area directly over the heatsource (ie, the heatspreader or core). The stuff on the edges is just gravy, the water won't flow over there and it's not taking any heat away.

ok, so which one of the top two is best? the one on the right is a generic one, like all it has are fins in the center, the left one has guides on it that direct flow to the center...take a closer look.

What kind of machinery do you have access to? If you have a milling machine, the Spiral would be hard since Its REALLY hard to do circular patterns with one. The best would be to just mill out a MAZE 4 type deal, but squared, lol. I'd post a pic of my block thats newly , Almost, finshed. I did something like what you've discribed.. but in a more square approach. I'm just lapping, then on goes the plexi, and BOOM, she's ready for action.
If you've only got access to something like a drill press...Well, sorry, I can't seem to find the page, but a guy made a waterblock with just a hack-saw and a drill press.. look it up.. lol

Well, here is the design that me and the local machinist here came up with. It's fairly easy to make with a CNC milling machine. You really don't need all that much for a block, getting those ridges like I have drawn will work fine. OF course, this isn't exactly the drawings, just rough.
