That was push-pull.

Nice, but if I'm not mistaken, there would be slight differences in temperatures when similar comparisons are made with a thiner rad. (say a GTS). My own testing with rads. such as BIPs and Swiftech rads. showed that there is almost no difference from "push" or "pull" and a very small one when using a combination of both. In those setups, only the use of shrouds offered any noticeable difference in temps. (> 1*C).

Oh Yeah, The thinner the rad the less difference it will make...I know I was playing around with a 240 BIP once and it would cool just as well in push as pull...But I bet you will still get better cooling even with a thinner rad in push-pull with shrouds....It amazed me that the shrouds made that much difference, I was only expecting a C or two difference....EDIT: I edited to point that out in the first post..The cfm of the fans will make a difference also...Were you using lower cfm fans? Thanks Dryad, I'm going to try the thicker shrouds as soon as I can get some made..I want every C I can get.. ...Thats sure an inexpensive way to get a few extra C...Thanks Martin, I'm going to try to get those done in the next week or so...I have 4-47cfm Yate Loons to try it with...I'm just going to do it in pull...That should give us an idea of how the rad will work with low cfm fans..As well as it did on passive it might make a decent quiet computing rad..

I used This , but a 12x36" sheet was $8.00 cheaper at the time. So, where mine cost $3.33 per shroud,
yours should run $5.99 each. Still a great price compared to retail options. And if you encase the rad/shroud unit on all four sides with 3/4" styrofoam, with chilled water you'll improve the temps greatly in warmer weather. I just hooked up the styrofoam thing since this 90ºF doesn't work well with my WB shootout test.

Thanks for the insulation tip Dryad...After I get my 437W Pelt up I might do some light chilling to go along with it...Maybe a dehumidifier set-up right after my rad and before the CPU with a single 120 heater-core and asmall slush-box, instead of going whole hog and using an AC one with no rad except in the slush box.....Might be able to knock a few more C off with-out trashing my electric bill to much more.....
![]() Have you ever seen anyone do it like that? I haven't, I wonder how well it might work...I might be better off just going with the AC with a slush-box route and do away with the 480 altogether...

i would keep the rad, and make a waterchiller with a simple WB, pelt and aircooler. a decent cooler with an undervolted pelt would probably decrease water temps greatly.
note, however, that this is based purely on speculation and imagination.

Yeah those don't really work well enough to buy the stuff to make one...Water picks up heat a lot better then you can chill it with such a small surface area as that would have...Appreciate your input though..Thanks... This will show you how well those work... ...Pelt Chiller .5C @ PC

whoa. certainly didnt expect that.
not even with a decent WB? (not doubting you, its just that my brain cannon comprehend it yet... -_-) EDIT: wait a minute, if thats true, why dont the coolit eliminator and freezone burn PCs?

Just do a Google for "Pelt-Tec Waterchillers" or "Pelt Chillers" you'll get a lot of hits for it, you'll see what i'm talking about...
