Cool! Yeah I'm suprised how many times I've gone in there and used it for different ideas or questions I might have, it's turned out alot better than I expected.

Yeah, I found most of the stuff I tested was within about 10%, but I have had one or two that someone else tested and said they got 20% higher than what the estimator was giving them. One thing I've learned from my flow rate testing is it makes a relatively big difference what you're pumping out of or into. For example if you have a 5 gallon bucket you're pumping out of and your pump is setting on the table, you'll automatically gain an extra foot of pressure head from the bucket setting higher than the pump and outlet. The same holds true for the outlet. Ideally your inlet water elevation and outlet need to be exactly the same to get a true read of what the pump is producing. I feel pretty good that it's probably close to 10% unless there is a curve in there that someone messed up on which is always possible. I've even found errors in the published curves, the published D-tek fuzion for example it looks to me like they were testing with either a higher pressure pressure guage or a flow meter that doesn't have fine increments. I need to redo that one myself because I didn't go out far enough, but I think mine is more accurate than the published and the block is slightly more restrictive than the published curve. Anyhow, I think 10-15% is probably a good estimate for possible error.

I did find Petra's has this RD30 18watt curve, I think Alex said he was planning to redo the curve, but it's a good place to start anyway.

Not familair with the Iwaki MD/WMD 20RLZ & RL pumps, if you find something on them, let me know. I've been adding a few every week, but it's starting to slow down now, so getting into that refinement part of it, and I've been playing around with excel pull downs and think I know how to clean it up.

Any thoughts for how many water blocks, how many rads, and how many pumps I should make available? I was thinking of maybe 4 block, 2 rads, 2 pumps, then I'll need another for tubing size, one for reservoir/t-line type, and one for elbows. Then it would be pretty easy to just pull down components from a list and as soon as you switched one for another it would automatically turn off the last one.

I could work up another fancy dancy coke bottle, but I'm not sure it would help because all of the current blocks and rads are curves for 1/2" barbs, the only posted 3/8" barb curves I could find was the MCW30. 3/8" barbs are really restrictive, I would always recommend streaching 3/8" tubing over 1/2" barbs, you won't have much restriction that way.

While going to 3/8" tubing using 1/2" barbs won't hurt too much, using 3/8" barbs will, I would switch over to 1/2" if you can.

Sounds good...Yeah published spec's you have to take with a grain of salt..Like CW curves they are so out of whack with each other its not even funny...Thats why I liked so much of Bill Adams old work he got things he had on his bench pretty close...


The MD/WMD are AC Iwakis they are pretty decent pumps...I really like the RLZ they are high pressure the 20RLZ has I think 24" of head and a 2.9gpm free flow..The MD is Japanese made its supposed to be of higher quality then the WMD which is American made...The WMD is half the price though so thats what most guys buy....Most any more opt for the RD30 cant say I blame them either......Still they are good pumps...Now that the 18W DDC has been de-tuned they should become a viable option again...


Yeah I would say 4 blocks 2 rads and 2 pumps should be plenty...Thats a overly complicated loop, I'd really hate to see one bigger...

Where did you get the headloss values for the fittings to use in Bernoulli's Equation? Or did you develop all of this empirically?
