I don't know Joe, you really need a variable wattage die the size of a block, just setting them on something hot wouldn't work because there would be no accurate way to gauge the heat out-put...If you had a really accurate digital temp probe you might be able to convert the heat reading into wattage some way I'm not sure I've never looked before...

I was thinking maybe you could find a hobby hot iron or something to add heat, should have some high wattage models.

I think you could calculate the actual heat load if you know the flow rate, and temp in and out..

Oh yeah I remember that, thats from the link CD gave us isn't it...An easier way I think that I can do anyway is just to mount my 320W TEC on my old comp and add that in with the 437W TEC I'm running now...That will be close to 700-800W that will give us a really good idea if its really a 1k rad or not...I'm waiting till I get another pump I ordered an Iwaki WMD 20RLZT tonight...I got my used 18W DDC in the mail today and cut it in the loop, about 5 minutes later my psi went down to 5 and I checked each pump and it was the one I already had that died...So I'm done with DDC's.....No place had a RD-30 so I went with the AC pump it will keep me well above 2gpm and thats really plenty in a CPU only loop...

Yeah I shouldn't have to worry about buying another pump for 20 or 30 years...I hope..

no, you just use it like a res. fill it up with water.

OK ... so the simplest route would be to have a large, measured container of heated water with a thermometer to indicate temperature ... pump that water through the Rad and into another large measured container with another thermometer. The time it takes to pump the heated, measured water from the first container to the second would give me my flow ... and the temperature differences could be used to calculate the heat dissipated by the Rad.
Just need to plug in the pump's heat dump as well to be certain of accuracy.

Sound about right to you all ?

I don't know Joe I'm like Martin it sounds plausible but I'm not really sure about it either...It seems to simple since most use a variable wattage die for heat testing...And there has been controversy over the accuracy over using calibrated die's for the temp loads on top of that...

It seems that doing that should give you a pretty good idea of heat dump to me....Just preface it that you are not using calibrated equipment, you could try it and see if it works...Try it with the heat dump I did at the beginning of this thread and see if it matches it at all, that heat load I used was very close since I was using know value's....I used 6 -100+ cfm fans so eight of the 80's you have should be close...Now the rear pull fans are on a 1.25" shroud and the front ones were just on the rad....
