Hey CD I got a question, I was pondering something like this, but with temps here getting down to the -35C range some nights, what kind of coolant are you using? obviously it can't be water if its sub-zero, and you said theres no condensation since it never shuts down? Can you explain a bit more?

The humidity in the house islow and the operating temp of the processor is 20C above intake I am not having any issues.

If you are concerned just pack the CPU socket with dielectric grease (from autoparts) or use vaseline.

Line the tubing with foam sleeves(plumbing or home improvement) and you are safe.

I am going to be reworking the cooler pretty soon. Not pleased with the db-1 pumps at all. PSI started at a puny 1.5 and is now .5,
I know my loop has not gotten less restrictive so the other answer is the pumps are not holding up for some reason.

This one reason I like to build stuff and test it for long periods of time.
'
The Iwaki set up for instance has proven itself and actually has gotten quiter and has lost no performance.

I think I will have to upgrade to at least an AquaXtreme 50X DC-12 or MCP655 (or two)

But TBH I only have another 3 or 4 months to run this rig before the ambients outside are higher than the ambients inside SO I may just wait till next Fall and build a stouter version...

Could the cold temperatures of the water be slowing the pumps down? I am sure that temperature would have an effect on the efficiency on the pumps.

It might be that...I still get great performance...but the PSI is lower. if the water has more resistance I would think it would be higher not lower...

I have no idea, I was just stating my view on what might have caused the change in performance.

I think the db-1 pumps are just crapping out. I liked them at first...but they are not up to the task.

Default Loop-sicle

Made the mistake of turning off the PC last night. This morning I had a loop-sicle despite what I calculated to be 15% Pentosin. After thawing the lines no harm done. I did get to see what max pressure for a DB-1 is though 5psi

I gotta wonder about the gauge's accuracy though because once it started to run it dropped BELOW 0 psi

So either the gauge is off or I have a loop that is violating some principle of hydrodynamics...

It could be that my PC is Folding so hard that it Folded a transdimensional crease in the fabric of the space-time continuum....a rift of negentropic thermal hijinks

Or it could be a bad pressure gauge...

But at 15C load with a -3.8 intake temp I'm not going to worry about it...even at-.5 psi

well if it was that low on pressure, you wouldn't be getting those temps. That is what I like to call ACTUAL empirical results versus observed empirical results.
