I call our first meeting of the OverClock.net BlockHeads to order  Looking for LC fanatics that dream in 3D about waterblock design... Let's compile all the great (and not so great  ) Block ideas into one endless thread. I'll keep the minutes.

I was wondering when this thread would happen. LOL
Here is my OLD prototype CNC block for anybody who missed it: (May 2006)   As you can see, it was never finished.  The holes on the ends were for the 939 socket, since that was the top of the line back then!

Subscribed. I can't miss out on concentrated coolness like this.
 Martin's thread had me brainstorming a bit- I posted a quick sketch a while back- I just don't have access to a CNC.  Still, I'll throw out ideas if I can.I like that oval design Ry, should make the flow a bit better. Might need some pins though.

Why do you think it is that no one has created a "open block"?
A water block open on the bottom. Sealed by an o-ring seal around the bottom lip. Just clamp it right onto the IHS and leak test it. Eliminate the thermal interface all together.

Actually I have thought about the open block, I just don't have a CPU to risk trashing.
__________________The only truly effective way to do it would be to lap the CPU, and then use a single point engraving tool to cross-hatch the inner portion of the IHS for a higher surface area.

Shoot just super glue that open block on there...
But you'd have to mill a spikey IHS to replace that stock Intel one...
