First time I got bad temps, I reseated. Didn't help. I lapped my CPU and got a whopping 2C off. Tried a different AS5 method. Lost 2C. Regardless of if I have my GPU in my loop or not, I get bad temps (rules out my radiator which I was pretty sure wasn't it anyway -- isn't even warm to the touch. That, and running my rad passive doesn't increase temps much either.)
This time, I got a backplate, used the 'spread' method on my AS5, and now I'm at 59C load Orthos (from 65C.) Thing is, on a very mediocore heatsink (GlacialTech Igloo 5750 Silent) I got 62C load on stock preapplied paste. Whadafux? I've tried everything and temps are still very BLEH. My GPU temps are great (~37C idle, ~45C load) so the only thing I can think of:

Any gunk in the loop?

I run at 59/60 load according to coretemp 0.96. If I use a different version of speedfan, it shows 10C-15C less.

None. I just filled up my loop on Thursday -- I've been draining everytime I redo my AS5. (because I had too -- bad toobz routing to the point I had to drain my loop to take off my Fuzion.)

Can we get a closeup pic of the FuZion mounted? I remember one user recently had the springs underneath the hold down plate, and this was the source of his bad temperatures. Make sure you haven't made the same mistake Pookie

You might have the same problem I have, which is coretemp showing bad readings.
My chip shows about 60C load at stock (doesn't make sense for a 35W TDP chip). I'm guessing the temps are 10-15C higher than real temps.

I'm hoping it's just due to the hot nature of the E21x0s, since the IHS isn't soldered on on these chips ... but I don't want to assume that and be slapped in the face with horrible temps next time I get a new CPU.
And I'm not using the stock mounting bolts, using the 'pro-mount kit'. The stock kit was replaced the last time I redid my loop (Thurs.) *edit* CoreTemp shows the right temps, programs that don't go by tjsensors (read: SpeedFan) read 10-15C too low.

Man I don't know Pook...I really thought that back-plate would of helped more...One thing you say it doesn't make much of a difference if you run rad fans or if you run the rad passive, have you got some higher cfm fans to try on it? 120x38mm seem to scavenge air through a rad better to me...
Does the top of your block feel warm? You might not be able to feel much of a difference with plain WC'ing but if it feels a little warmer you know the block is transferring heat..... And do you have high room ambient temps? High ambients will affect temp's a lot with WC'ing it even affects TEC temp's but to a smaller degree...If all else fails stick that 437W on it....

Do you have any friends with a cpu block they'd let you use to test? Seems to be the best solution right now...

My old mobo (Intel D850GB), not OC'd, running a 1.5 GHz PIV w/stock cooling always showed around 10-15 degrees F hotter than actual temp through an Intel temp monitoring program. I had a thermocouple mounted in a hole drilled in the heatsink directly over the center of the die on the CPU. I'd trust it before the sensors built into the CPU/board anyday.
