After looking around the interwebs, I found a guy that has been using the same solution, with RIT for 8 months, and no stained tubing.

Does the ink have any effect on the pump or blocks over time?

im still surprised that the rits didnt dye the tube, i use rits to tint plastic all the time, and i mean heavy tinting. ive tinited plexi, and white delrin. white delrin comes out the best its like a solid color would of never guessed that it was white

Not from what i've experienced/seen. Don't use the dyes that RIT sells, they WILL stain tubing i tried the navy blue out on a small piece tubing that i have and left it overnight, it stained! :O, the rit/highlighter mix doesnt tho. The whitener and brightener won't stain however.

So...I am trying to get this straight. Is the 'whitener/brightener' an oxidizing agent? Is it chlorine based? Either of these would be not-so-nice to copper/aluminum blocks, not to mention the moving parts in yor pump. I dunno. I think I'll stick to the stuff made fo the system. I mean, you pay hundreds for watercooling components...why go cheap on a $20 bottle of liquid specifically made for this one purpose? On the other hand....how well does the highlighter dye work solo? I have heard of ppl using an automotive anti-freeze mix, and they swear by it.
