Default MCW30 Mod

Without me having to disassemble my entire loop to find out , does anyone know if the copper base plate of an MCW30 chipset block is thick enough to take an 1/8" drill bit and drill ever so slightly down from the inside to roughen up the inner surface area so i can create some turbulance as the water passes through it ? my MB temps idle in the 40's and that just isnt good enough for me.i figured if i could create some turbulance , it might drop my temps a little.

The copper plate is 1/8" thick. I know because I'm holding one right now.

It may take a little drilling but I'd be extremely careful.

I won't see why it wouldn't work although I'd try re-seating the block before drilling it. If you're using a the default spring installation set up, the tubing may cause a "rocking" effect on the block and that results in improper contact between the block and the chip. Make sure it's sitting on the chip properly.

If you're going to take the block off anyway, why don't you go for the hard mounting kit?

i am using the hard mount kits on both of them...before i added my overclocked Ballistix Tracers , my MB idled at 29c , so i know it is not a mounting issue. but thanks.

Alrighty then. If you see an improvement, post pics. I'm sure there are people out there who'd love to do something like what you're doing...as long as it yields results ;D
