Default Cheap watercooling?

I am interested in cooling my cpu only. This wouldn't happen for a while (I would use my birthday funds in 2 months). I have a mini 80mm radiator that I could use. Would that be enough for just the cpu? I obviously want to achieve some good clocks.

I want this to be as cheap as possible, but still provide me with good temperatures.

Edit: I know Cheap and Watercooling don't usually go together, but let's make it happen.
Let's also try to make all the parts new at first. If I can't afford it, used it fine.

No, you'll want at least a 240 rad, 360 preferably. New, it's going to cost *roughly* $250, used could be a lot less.

240 rad for a single cpu? Seriously? :O

Where the heck do I mount that? lol

Looks like me and KennyMester might have to meet up over the summer. He's pretty pro at this stuff.

Several air coolers will provide lower temps at a fraction of a cheap end watercooling unit.
Air cooling can also be improved with a few case mods, better intake makes a big difference.

My CPU loop works pretty well. 240 BIX2, D-Tek and MCP655. Total with fans and hoses etc. was $175 ($60 rad, $45 pump, $35 block, $20 hoses etc, $15 fans) Look for used items.

I would probably get this heatercore:

Looks pretty solid to me and I know it was great back in the day.

This is just a side comment, but relevant none the less.

With the new 45nm CPUs generating less heat, it seems that WCing might not be needed anymore. As it is, the E8400's Are OCing up to there max vcore on air cooling.

The point is, for the cost of WCing, you can pick up the E8400...

No kidding? You cant get anymore out of them keeping the chips cooler? What about with TEC and Phase? Man that would be sweet if you can max them out on air, it would save a lot of $$$....

Don't mean to thread jack you OP...That HC is fine for a CPU loop, I bet it cools as well as some of the 360 rads...That and a D-5 pump .D-5...And Fuzion CPU block and you would be set.. FuZion CPU Block...

Ira, whats he supposed to connect them with ? some tubing and a t-line fitting are good too, and maybe a fan for the rad, and some zip ties for clamps?

but yes it is reasonable to make a WC loop for 150-200ish
