Heres a few shots of my testing of the MCP655 Vario as well as the Basic.
All tests were run with a modded 200watt PC Power Supply to be used as a bench supply. Voltage = 11.87 volts Vario at setting 1 ![]() Vario at setting 2 ![]() Vario at setting 3 ![]() Vario at setting 4 ![]() Vario at setting 5 ![]() Now for the MCP655-b ( Basic ) ![]() I even soldered a Pot into the Basic in the hopes that it would then become a variable. ![]() No such luck. More testing is Ongoing.

Thanks Joe thats some nice testing...
..WOW...That "B" model is worse then we thought...Did you measure any flow between the 2?Thats a shame you can't use a trim pot on it, I was really hoping you would be able to....For $10 bux less you really get a ripping with the "B" model..Hope you can get it figured out.... Thanks again Joe, I really like to see testing like that, I know its a pain in the butt to do though...

...I'm not even going to tell you it was in the lower 60's here today... ...But I have all that wonderful heat and humidity to look forward to this Summer...But yeah when you have a chance and if you don't mind it would be great to see the flow on each setting to..

Also, I still wanted to run a head pressure test with a 480GTX to see how much is lost from the free flowing tests. Flow with and without the 480GTX would no doubt follow.

That's great! Hadn't thought about my attic ladder space for the extra hieght need.
I can't remember my pressure test at 13.8V, but I think I got around 166" with the D5 and 148" with my basic model. Here is some of my flow rate tests I ran way back with a bucket and stopwatch. Freeflowing with just 17" of tubing was something like 5.44GPM Vario, 4.94GPM Basic so they seemed to be about setting 4 and 5 or at least I never had any other indication to suggest otherwise, but wow....that 48" definately tells another story. I guess you could try swapping out the impellers also and see if there is any difference.

The MCP350 would even be a better choice...

...But from pressure readings on it and a 240 BIX I would guess it to be about as restrictive as a 360 BIX, which isn't bad..When you do it I will be able to tell how good my guesser is...![]()
