Default Adding something into your loop to watch the flow?

Is there anything you can add into your loop to watch the flow besides a flow meter? Like something that would actually flow through the tubes.... I heard glitter someplace, but that would clog the pump/rad/cpu block so that doesn't seem like a good idea at all.

I've been throwing ideas around in my head but I cant really seem to think of anything. Seems like it would need to be liquid of some sort... but stand out from the other liquid. Odd, i know... any thoughts?

LOL, no glitter

uhm well it's pointless really, you know it's moving, you can see your water in your res moving, even if you had a ball (let's say for example), and it moved, you wouldn't know the flow (GPM) so it would not be useful.....

Keep in mind anything you put in your fluid like that (in the manner you are speaking), is going to cause flow issues because you're going to have to use a liquid or material either non-soluble with your coolant, or heavier in mass than your coolant, but either way, it's going to be an oil-water scenario. Now, you CAN buy certain windows for your front 5.25 bays that will show active coolant flow, I don't use them, but I know Thermaltake makes a few.

You can get one of this. They look good and you can tell if your water is flowing.

I've got my pump RPM cable connected to the HSF post on my mobo. I have a Speedfan event defined that will run a .bat file to shutdown my system if the RPM falls below 500 (arbitrary low number). My mobo only alarms for low RPM, not shutdown. Not all pumps have an RPM sensor. You could also have Speedfan should down at a cpu threshold if your pump doesn't have a RPM sensor. Of course, the cpu will shutdown by itself if it reaches a critical temp, but I didn't want it to get to that point.
