Default Thermal probe for water temp??

Ok guys, not sure if this has been done or not.

I have the Cosmos 1010, ESA edition. this case comes with 4 thermal probes to monitor temps. Well, i wanna know if its possible to put one of these thermal probes my water cooling system to get a direct water temp? The way i was thinking of doing this, is by making a small cut in one of my tubes and then sliding just the very tip of the probe into the tube and sealing it with silicone? Is this a bad idea??

As long as it's sealed properly, there wouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't recommend that you physically cut one of your tubes though. Maybe snake it in at one of your fittings?

Or maybe even once you get the tubing on the barb just slide it into the end of the tubing that sticks out past the barb ridge and have it between the barb metal and the tubing and clamp it down tight. That should get a real close temp for the water itself.

Just an Idea....

I'd put a T fitting along one of the tubes, extend the T with some spare tubing, slip the temp sensor in, and then plug the end. less risk of a barb getting loose

i went through the giant pita to adapt an alphacool sensor to a dd delrin t, and then i saw somone's t-line on here with a standard temp sensor submerged in it (martin maybe)

mine...

martins (look in the t-line filled with green coolant)

much easier an just as effective...wish i had seen that 1st...doh

HaHa.....^^^.I use those temp probes to..Alphacool TEMP Thermosensor G1/4" ..Then silicone them in a T with just the tip in the flow, heat shrink it in, and attach them to these for a read-out with a 3-pin.....XSPC LCD Display

Heres one by my gauge...

So... ira-k You can cut the sensor wire off the XSPC LCD Display and splice in the Alphacool one?
Sweet if that is the case!

Thanks and let us know!

the alphacool sensore uses a standard 2 pinfemal connection, just like regular mobo sensors. i connected the alphacool sensor right up to my coolermater aerogate...no splicing needed. now the koolance sensor i tried first was a no-go. the koolance system uses a temp probe with a really high resistance, so a regular sensor (like one in a mobo) wont even realize the koolance sensor is connected

Yup...The probe has a female 2-pin cable, I just cut the tape probe off the LED read-out and solder a 3-pin onto 2 of the wires from the LED...Works pretty well and they are a lot more accurate then the tape probes...I have one right before and after the rad so I can tell how well my fans are working and you can tell when its time to clean the rad, temp drop across the rad drops...I'd like to stick another one right before the CPU and right after and one in the res, but all the restriction from the T's will add up..I do need one in the res, I have the parts to do it I've just been lazy...

Just trim the top of the T so that the probe tip which is beveled will be down into the moving flow a little, silicone it in good and let it cure for a few days then heat shrink it all in....I've run it like that with dual 18W DDC's and now with this Iwaki with never a leak...

Heres a pic of the read-outs cut into the front of a case I used to have, it makes a decent fairly non-restrictive temp solution, its really no more restrictive then just the T...
