Title says it all, do I need to build a shroud or will it perform okay without one?

Well how is it now? It's up to you.... it will help though. I use (and the easiest way) is to get 38mm fans and just remove the fan part and keep the casing.

Not sure you need to build one, but it does help eliminate the dead spot when the fan is to close to the rad. I used as did others here a cheap fans housing that we cut the guts out of.

These fans work great for shrouds. The price has went up since I purchased mine.

Depends on the radiator, the better ones already have a shroud although making a custom one will improve temps a little.

If your talking just a bare radiator of course you would need to buy or make one.

i believe it's supposed to help shave maybe 1C or two or so off the temps. I don't have any test data of my own so I can't really say much lol.

I just made one of mine out of sheet aluminum and the other with some 1/8" acrylic sheeting.
although some radiators have shrouds available for them, I wanna say Thermochill PA series but i can't remember :\

If I get one would I need the shroud for both the intake and the outtake or just the outtake?

And how much of a difference is it really going to make? I'm no metal worker and really don't want to buy 12 fans just to gut.

You're already running dual 360 radiators? The extra benefit from the shrouds would largely go unnoticed. It's not terribly hard to make a shroud though if you've got a dremel and a bender.

A shroud helps to close the dead spot in the center of the fans air flow..It kind of looks like a donut hole and when you put it on a shroud it closes the hole in the middle some..Optimum shroud depth is supposed to be 1.5"...

Even if you are over radded a shroud will make your rad more efficient since it will pull more evenly over the whole rad...In other words it will more evenly pack it full of dust......You wont have to wash or blow it out as often...
