It is safe if you do a decent leak test and follow all the guides out there. Most disasters occur due to simple things like forgetting a clamp, over tightening a worm screw clamp, kinks and too much dye in the loop [gunk can cause clogs over time]. As long as you keep it clean and do a full rebuild every 6 months or so, it's fine.

you can also look at factory sealed kits like CoolIt Freezone. They make several for cpu, dualies, and gpus.

armor is a great case for water cooling.. but that kit that comes with it isnt good.
i had a couple bad things happen when u used thermaltake kits.
corrosion and cracked blocks. i cought them before they went sploosh
i went diy soon after. its a bit scary at first. just take your time to build and leak test

when i put mine together i had a external power supply i could run just the pump with while everything was inside unplugged. you can easily just jump the power supply to run the pump though. leak test = a must. highly recommend screw clamps. $1 ea. at the hardware but well worth the peace of mind. i almost bought the coolit freezone elite with mtec for some $350 but when i looked into it further and comparing similar reviews between the two the swiftech h20-220 could cool just as good if not a little better than it and costs $110 less (id post my proof but it'll take me a while to recompile it since i lost my bookmarks and probably won't unless anyone pm's me and asks all nice like :-P) ive clamped down pretty had on plastic elbows with screw clamps and they don't break them since they apply pressure to all side equally.
