I'm looking to do a quick upgrade to my radiator that I can also take on to my next radiators down the line. Right now im looking at these fans. I'm thinking of using them just because of their high CFM. However I don't know how loud 55dBA is. I don't need my case to be silent but I don't want it to sound like a vacuum cleaner like my last case either. How much do the fans on the radiator actually effect the performance? If its minimal then I don't need anything that expensive or high powered.

I would say the best are these:
http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews/...ans/index2.htm I have been meanig to get them to try them out. Right now, my rad fans are the loudest thing in my system.

am i right in thinking, that an increase in 1db on the scale equates to the measured volume being twice as loud?

The Noctua fans currently are at the top of the list for having the best noise-to-airflow ratio.
