I just got a 2nd hand D-tek FuZion. I was wondering if it is worth lapping the block. Currently, it looks like this:

Doesn't really look that bad, I would take it out of the frame to lap it since it has a slight bow when its in the frame...

Is this a "bowed" Fuzion?
If so I would recommend not lapping until you give it a whirl. Hmmm... on second thought I would give it a whirl first. I realise that doing so is a PITA, but it might be worth it. *the Devil in me says LAP! - Reason and Caution say otherwise*

<sorta OT>
ira - Are all the Fusions that are bowed, thus due to the frame, or is it the surface?

The person who owned it before said they had lapped it already. If they did not take the frame off, would that cause problems with the block. Because looking at it, it looks completely flat.

OP...It shouldn't be a problem at all, I've known several here who lapped it with-out taking it apart and it was fine...But I would just take it apart if your going to lap....

..I wouldn't really of thought the base was thin enough that the frame would of bowed it either, but I'm sure thats one reason it cools so well, the thin base....
