Default Laing DDC Mounting

Planning on mounting these pumps in the position shown in these pictures:

Thinking of mounting them using the tabs that are attched to the sides of the pumps.

Few questions about mounting these
• Should I just screw them to the bottom of the case?
• What is the best way to dampen the sound?
• I was also worried about the heat these will put out (They are the 18W version). Normally the heat would transfer in to the case, but since my case is acrylic, will there be a problem?

Any help would be much appreciated!

1) No. Heat and sound will be issues.
2) Decoupling if possible. Gel pad would be good. Foam as third choice.
3) Yes, it will shorten the life of the pumps.

What you can do is mount the pumps on a metal plate using thermal pads. Then mount the metal plate in the case using rubber grommets.

Here's what I did with mine. The metal bracket is noticably warm after a few minutes.

Looks like I'm gonna have to rethink this. Thanks for the sound advice.

Take a sheet of aluminum and bend it into a U shape. Just make sure the base is less than 5.75" wide so it will fit into the bay area. You can mount the plate to the 5.25" bays for heat dispersion and decoupling.

Also, make sure to check your XSPC Tops for chipping. My first one had to be RMAed since the top wouldn't seal and water leaked from it.

I mount mine kind of like Duckie does...If your going to mount to plexy you'll have to have some kind of metal plate to mount to...

I usually just mount them using 6-32 all thread bolts w/springs, I put a rubber flat washer under each of the little side mounts to hold it up off the plate or case just a little, that lets air circulate under the pump....

I have just used the foam pad that comes with them to, just stick it on the bottom of the pump then cut the center out...I use studs and springs to mount it also...

I checked the tops by applying some pressure, I could hear air escaping from both of them. I fitted some extra washers to the barbs and to the screw top and they seem air tight now. Thanks for the heads up on this, could have caused some serious problems later on

I have put rubber grommets under each tab and under each corner, so 6 in total. I would mount using the side tabs. As you can see from the picture there is a small gap under the pump to allow air to reach it. I would also place a fan in front of the pumps. Would this work?
