Default So I'm a noob and I bought the bigwater 760i...

So here I am with a water cooling system that cools only slightly better then the stock cooler from intel. I was wondering. Is there any way I can add a second rad to this thing. I would sell it but I would feel bad selling it to some other noob who doesn't know better. Maybe I should return it....

Sure, just get the correct fittings, they look pretty small. Maybe 1/4?

Get a new waterblock too.

The idea is cool but the fact of the matter is that the rad is too small to cool down an overclocked quad. I'm thinking that with another rad and some fans I could dissipate some heat better. I might also get a new block. I don't know if its this model or the one before but they tended to crack

it seems ridiculous to me to have to put fans on a water cooling system. isnt that the point of water cooling? no fans?

that would be for the best, theres really no other way, its just not worth the fuss.

save some money and get some better quality parts.

BLOCK $50
RAD $50
PUMP $65
FANS $15
TUBES $10
Distilled/coolant $5
Tline/res $20

total $200+ give or take 50+ depending on specific parts

no.. the point of watercooling is using water to remove the heat, then you need a rad/fan to remove the heat from the water

i dont think its worth it. return the item and save for better parts. its a waste your going to end up replacing everything, better to start right then regret starting

You have to move air across the rads to remove the heat though. Look at a car, they have fans behind the radiator. With water cooling you can remove heat more efficiently then just air so they really work better for load temps.

?!???! BLASPHEMY!! I have 9 fans on my water cooled system right now... 3 on my 120.3 rad alone, and soon i'm gonna have 6 on the rad once I add a block to my gpu and north bridge. fans are important to removing heat from the radiator, specially if you actually want to take full advantage of your water cooling system. Now if all you care about is quietness, then sure you could wimp out and not have any fans, but that will limit your cooling abilities obviously. But the main point of water cooling is moving heat away from the inside of your case using water as the median to then be cooled out side using the radiator. Also water's high specific heat capacity allows it to absorb alot of heat, but after a while the water WILL warm up and it will need some type of cooling. Fans do help ALOT on removing excess heat from the rad.

BTW to the OP a build-yourself system is the way to go. I don't know how much your prebuilt system cost, but if you pick out your own parts, you could have an INSANE water system for under 300. I only have my CPU water cooled, but my temps on my q6600 went from around 69 when running crysis (i know i know, thats ridiculously hot... I think there was a problem with the stock cooler) to around 45 when running crysis on everything high 1680x1050 for a few hours. If you want some good advise on parts to buy and whatnot, feel free to ask, we are all willing to help you pick out new parts if that's the way you decide to go.
