One day I noticed that my coolant didn't look quite as green as it used to...
![]() This is what my nickel "plated" aluminum waterblock top looked like... ![]() Since then I bought myself one of those copper tops. I can post pictures of that if you really want... I guess this is a warning to all those GTX owners out there. Personally I like the waterblock and would still buy it again, but with a copper top right from the start.

Yeah, they should recall the aluminum tops. Not the first and likely not the last one to bite the galvanic dust.
It's a very sad deal really, sorry to hear you have to pay out of pocket for something like this. Most of these are usually with someone that ran straight distilled, but it sounds like you even used some sort of anticorrosive coolant and it still happened.....

I've got an Apogee GT block that I'll sell to you at a reasonable price if you need a replacement. You'll need your own mounting hardware though.
