Default Water chilled W/C system

Hi!

I have been thinking about different cooling options. I think phase change is too hard and an overkill for me. Also, I wouldn't like to have TEC blocks in my system because I wouldn't like to insulate my system. That's because I do much part changing.

So, I thought it would be good to have a water chiller in a water cooled system. I am not very practically experienced at water cooling, but I thought it would be a good idea to use water chiller to hold temperatures at 10-20C. Then I wouldn't have to do insulating and there wouldn't be a risk of condensation. Though it would be cool to hold your CPU at -50C I don't think that's really necessary unless you're going to break 3DMark record.

Would this be a good idea?

Edit: Don't look at my current system

You still have to insulate anytime you get below dew point. You need to insulate your ENTIRE loop if you want a waterchiller. A TEC requires you to just insulate the socket area.

I thought about a water chiller that would hold temps at about 20C.
No insulation needed then right?

What's your ambient temperature? What's your humidity?

A 20C waterchiller is pretty close to pointless. Your water temperature is already around 25-30C. All that work to drop your CPU temps by 2-3C? Not worth it.

My average temp is about 20C, humidity is about 50-80%.
Not really worth it huh?

By the way, if I'd go on plain water I thought about HW 480GTX radiator. Would it be enough for overclocking a QX9770 to 4.5 GHz, cooling a north bridge and cooling two 9800GX2's?

You'll be spending a few days and a few hundred dollars for a 1-2C temp drop.

QX9770 don't really hit 4.5GHz that often. You're looking at a 600w heatdump. It depends on the fans.

Here's a cheaper option if you're willing to run external WC and set it up close to a window A/C.

My external WC system running both a Quad and an Opty setup:

With the Quad PC only running, a 22șC ambient room temp & A/C on it idles @:

With this single in case e6850 @ 22șC ambient room temp & A/C on it idles -8șC/Loads -1șC. With the duct eliminating any condensation:

You can make look far more visually appealing. But, as I have no significant other, I'm not aesthetically challenged; and therefore prefer function over form.

What's window A/C?
I don't understand this A/C stuff.
Can you put A/C in simple words please?
AC = A/C ?
