Default Is it worth it? TRUE to Watercooling.

Right now, I am using the TRUE. With my q6600 @ 1.275v oced to 3.0ghz, ambients around 26C, idle temps are around 34C and load temps are around 55C. Now i was considering getting a watercooling system under $300. i would like to keep a 240 rad so i can fit it internally. Heres what I'm thinking of:

Swiftech MCR220 QP

D-tek Fuzion v2

Laing D5 Vario

2 x yate loons low speed

Swiftech Micro res or t-line

Primochill Fluid

Primochill tubing 10ft.

Do you think it would be worth it to upgrade to this? all in all, it will cost me about $250 plus tax from NCIX.com

I'd say no. Spend the money somewhere else.

At best you'll get slightly better temps.

How about an SLI motherboard and another 8800GT? If you sell your motherboard, you could break even.

newegg has the asus P5N-D (750i SLI) open box for $120. add an 8800GT for $140 after MIR....

No, I'd say not even close to worth it. An SLI board and another GT would be a great idea, maybe the 750i FTW model would work.

Personally, I'd do it just for the lulz of putting together some watercooling. But performance-wise, the gain isn't worth the 250$ bucks.

I'd say worth it. It's something that will carry over to future builds, keep your system quieter, and cooler. Plus you'd be water-cooling, which is awesome by itself. Granted, your temps aren't that high, but that's with your current setup, what if your next build isn't so forgiving. You'll have the capabilty to cool much better. I enjoy my sub 30°C temps at load, as does my hardware.

Some advice on your choices of WC gear. Ditch the Fluid, and make you own. Distilled water and some UV color and maybe some anti-algea stuff and you are set for may less money.

Well i chose that fluid for anti-conductiveness, if thats even a word. A new board and another 8800 sounds good too, but i dont know. I'm happy with the performance i'm getting now, its just that on hot days, my cpu reaches 40C idle, lets not even talk about load.

Distilled water is non-cunductive. Some of those premixed fluids are expensive and will gum up in the loop. I run pure distilled water, 5 drops of blue UV dye, and 2 teaspoons of distilled vinigar. I never get cloudy or gummy, and looks great for about 2 bucks a gallon.

To address the non-conductive issue I see arising pretty often, here.

I can't watch those videos at work, But i'd assume some form of non-conductive liquid conducts is some glorious fashion. Any non-conductive liquid will become conductive over time. That's why I change mine out pretty regularly. (at 2 bucks a gallon you can do that) But hey, if your scared, just say your scared. Watercooling like overclocking, carries some risk. That's what upgrading is for

Now see this is different. I was going to say no, but with an idle that high and a load probably in the mid 60's I'd say yes. Idles may not change much, my E6300 Idles at 41C with 1.45 volts, but OCCT full load is only 47C after an hour.
