I know I don't HAVE to. I've been wanting to go H2O, but with what the shop told me staying in the back of my mind....I've been hesitant.

opening the res/fillport would not be necessary at all. The only situation where there could possibly be any issues is if the loop were filled someplace where the barometric pressure was very high, the loop sealed, then moved to someplace where the barometric pressure is extremely low. But that would have to be a very substantial difference; even taking the rig to the top of mount everest would probably not result in the tubing blowing (maybe if it were filled at the bottom of Mariana Trench) For all intents and purposes, the only way you'd have the chance of burting your tubing due to ambient pressure would be to put you rig into a vacuum chamber.
