I have heard many great things about Stinger. I have asked Ira-K a few questions about it, whether I will see an improvement over temps of the Fuzion. So I figured I would ask the public, hoping the owners of said WB can give me some feedback. I'm always looking for things to improve my WC loop. Thanks ahead of time.

Before heading out and buying a new block, have you done anything to your current one? Are you running a stock V1 Fuzion block?
Seeing you run the Q6600, did you get the nozzles for the quad (and the o-ring to go with them?)

He's really right, you might get more for your $$$ with a rad or fan upgrade, or a block tweak...Most of the blocks are going to be with-in C or 2 of each other anymore anyway...If you think you'll ever want to go TEC or chiller, the all metal Stinger is King..

HaHa......Hey your right, when your right your right...fstfrddy will tell you himself that you can only get so close to ambient with water cooling...Rads and fans and pump (pumps)have as much to do with it anymore as the block,as long as you have a top block, the blocks are at a point where I just cant see them getting much closer to ambients, hope I'm wrong though...
...But if you can get another 2 or 3C from one block to another I'd still go for that couple of C...

Haha I started this thread late at night and forgot about it! Opps.

I have a Black Ice XtremeIII Radiator, combined with 3 Kaze fans that are over 100cfm. I have them connected to a fan controller to limit the noise when I don't want them screaming at me!

I have got the nozzle kit and o-ring, though I have been switching back and forth between CPU's. I currently have a E6850@3.9ghz in the system right now. Doing a little testing, basically I can't tell the diff with 4 cores and 2. So I may stick with 2 and sell my Q6600 B3. It is a V1 Fuzion as well.

I was just hypothetically considering a Stinger, and figured I would ask to see if there would be any large performance/heat dissipation gains. I've never had temps issues, and with this new loop of mine I have better temps then I did before. I just do not know as far as temperatures go so I figured I would ask the owners.

They are both nice blocks, but like Ira said an all metal block is nice to have for TEC's. The Stinger is also alot more open internally, so it'll see the most performance with really high flow rates.

If all you've got is your CPU in the loop and a BIX with fans that strong, you're setup plenty good. You're best gain may actually be experimenting with better thermal compounds and mounting/bowing/lapping tweaks.

I still like Coolaboratory Liquid Pro and I've also been really impressed with the TIM consultants TC Grease 0098. Both of these can have 2-3C gains over your more typical paste.

I'll have to try some of that, I'm getting low on TIM, I would think it would do OK an hot side TEC, it says it doesn't pump out...This is the one here?...Tim Consultants T-C Grease 0098 - 2.5g.

Yes, it's really good stuff. I didn't spend a whole bunch of time testing it, but it was clearly better than Artic Ceramique by a good 2-3 degrees with the couple of mounts I tested it in comparison. I heard later it's actually made by the guy that work on the Shin-Etsu forumula and later started on his own and developed this stuff.

It's a little bit thicker and maybe not as tacky as some of the other pastes, but it works fine with a spread thin method.

Here are the few results I had comparing with Artic Ceramique. The first two mounts were with ceramique and everything else was the TIM consultants. It was enough to convince me.


Give it a try, I think it would work great on a TEC.
