Thumbs up pump not pumping - help needed, thanks.

yosup, first post.

problem: 2 days ago i installed a waterchill extreme kit. last night i moved the internal usb cable connecting the pump to the mobo to a diff. usb header. next time i turned my pc on, the pump didnt pump and the rad fans didnt turn.
i've tried moving the cable around the 4 usb headers but no cigar. i've tried a keyboard running off one of the headers in the brief time i managed to get into the bios (cpu was 96c) and it worked.

at first i was 100% sure the cable was damaged, but the pump has a green light with it in, and a red flashing one when it isn't. so i'm not sooo sure now

as i already have an assortment of problems, this is the last thing i need. could i please get some opinions as i very much want to get on my pc as there is a pile of things that need doing.

Is this a brand new pump? I know this sounds stupid but when the pump's green light is on give it a little tappity tap sometimes that gets them going.

put your ear right up against the pump....

you hear any noise?

Yes: your impellers are stuck or your motor died

No: Something burned out, or re-check, double check, and check again to make sure all power connections are 100% in place

Does the system power supply always come on and just not the pump and fans connected to the pump? Or does the PSU not come on either? If the PSU isn't powering on then it's likely to blame; but if it's just the pump/rad fans, then it's probably something with the power regulation circuitry in the pump. The USB cable for the pump shouldn't make much of a difference since, as far as I can tell, it's only used for software control of the pump/fans but isn't 100% necessary for the system to run. The other thing to check is to be sure that the molex power is properly connected to the pump.

First off, what size power supply are you running ?
Are you certain that it can handle the load you're putting on it ?

Try to by-pass/short the power supply ... just like you would to prime the loop. ( green wire to a black wire on power supply to motherboard 20/24 pin connector ) This will at least let you know if you have a good power supply capable of turning on at all.

If you happen to have a Multi-meter, you can then check your 12v and 5v leads to see if they are within range.

If everything checks out for the power supply, it would appear that you have a faulty pump.
