It makes sense, at least in my mind. The air flows evenly into the back end of the fan, where the motor's hub blocks a portion of the flow. Hence why you'd need the shroud on the push side to give the airflow enough space to redirect back to the middle. Whereas on the pull side, when it hits the motor hub, it's already done its job by going through the rad, so shrouding it really doesn't improve much of anything.

It seems in pull the air is still undisturbed enough for an even distribution by pressure, but push compresses and concentrates the air so much, the shrouds really help there.

At least that's what I've been finding so far, but it might depend on the radiator density and fan speed too.
What rad were you using? I was getting 3C better temp's on pull with a shroud then with no shroud...And a 1.25C better then a push on a shroud only...Thats on the GTX...

An MCR320, that's probably why.

I figured I'll wait until I test the MCR220, then I'll try both sides of the radiator with push as well as pull. I only ran a few tests, but I did let them log for a few hours. I don't have enough fans or shrouds for the bigger rads to completely test.

Pull is not always better than Push as some people will tell you. For example, in my TJ07, I have my fans set to push and intake cool air from outside the case.. rather than pulling hot air from inside case and exhausting it out. This results in much better performance. The most important factor is that you intake cool air from outside the case, and if you can accomplish this with pull then that is advisable, but push is acceptable too. The reason I cannot pull from outside air because trying to pull through radiator, and the sidewall mesh is much too restrictive.

There is only ± 1 degree difference in fan orientation, but if you increase the ambient air temperature by 10-15 degrees your results are going to be drastically different.

Oh Yeah it has such a low fin per inch count, I don't think I ever tried a shroud on one, I know just playing around with it I would get about the same temp's in push or pull with it...A BIP I might of gotten a 1C better in pull, I really don't remember but it wasn't much...

I've heard that the PA it doesn't much matter with a pull or push, you would think it would do a little with pull since its a double row rad...

Have you ever tried a double pull yet? I'd try that on your GTX......
