OK, so i've got a BIP240 and an MCR220 mounted internally (woot) with panaflo U1C's (108 CFM) and i'm just wondering if i'll have problems with temps. if i add a pair of 4870's to my loop.

I don't expect flow rates to be a problem, since i've got a pump rated at 5.5 GPM, and 13 feet max head pressure.

Anyways, can i get away with it? I'm thinking I am at about a 550 W max heat load with everything loaded to the pin.

EDIT: With just the QX6700, and the MCW30, I get water out (of the second rad)temps. that are about 3 deg. above ambient, and water in (at the first rad) that are about 4.7-5 deg. above ambient, if that helps at all.

Thats a good rad out temp you have now......You'll be doubling up your wattage + a little with the 2 GPU's...I'd just try it with what you have and then go from there...I really don't see those 2 rads being able to handle that much wattage,not with really good temp's anyway, but why not try it before spending any more $$$...Thats what I would do anyway...

Since you don't mind the higher cfm fans I'd look at the BIX if you need another rad, its a heck of a good dual row performance rad with decent cfm fans on them...Not much $$$ for them either..360 BIX.

Shrouds will help on a BIX...

I was actually thinking my worst case scenario would be to go out and buy a 480 GTX, throw 8 fans on it, and then mount it outside the case...

I'd like to stick to internal mount though, so is there any possibility of having 2 BIX 240's handling the heat?

Oh Yeah, figure around 300W at least with your fans for each 240 BIX...Shrouds will help if you have the room for them...

Maybe just try one 240 BIX and your BIP, then if its not to good get another 240 BIX...

But honestly I would just try what you have first, a shroud should help on a BIP, a little at least...Shrouds do best on thicker higher fin per inch rads....But hey they are cheap and easy to make, if you do end up going with the BIX you could still use the shrouds on them also..

1.5" is supposed to be the optimum depth for a shroud, gutted 120x38mm fans are perfect...If you don't have any old 120x38mm or cant find any cheap somewhere, just go ahead and gut a 120x25mm fan and use it, thats almost a inch thick and will still help...

Your best bet would be to just run 2 separate loops, CPU and GPU....If you run it all in the same loop have your CPU right after rad and before the GPU's...You should still get pretty good CPU temp's like that...

Always good advice from you, thanks a bunch .

I had wanted to go dual loop, but due to space problems, i don't think i can. I was hoping to keep all my WC internal.

I guess i have some shrouds to fab.

Hey its NP....I like talking about this stuff anyway.....Its hard to get get a lot of WC'ing gear in one case,PITA comes to mind.....I wish you would at least go external on your rad's, that would get you a little better cooling right there...

oh, PITA doesn't even come close to describing shoehorning 2 240 mm rads internally in a TT armor , but i like the psuedo-mobility you get from an internal WC rig.


Actually, I was thinking about doing the whole rad stand thing, but i don't have the budget to pay for what would be essentially an entire second loop... oh well, time to save up the pennies i guess.

Hey don't let me put you off from it, you can still get decent CPU temp's with all that in one loop....Just not optimum, but you have to remember I'm a cooling freak to......I'd hate to see anything else in your CPU loop if you had 2-480 rads and double Iwaki RD 30 pumps for it......Always try what you have first before buying new parts, thats what I always do, and sometimes it works out fine...
