Default First Water Cooled System

Hey everyone, I have been working on my Velocity Project and my next step is to purchase some water cooling parts. I will not be worrying about a CPU or GPU block. I will be using a Nehalem CPU and a 4870X2 GPU.

For the rest of the parts, here is what I have come up with:

Reservoir

Radiator X2

Radiator X3

Pump

Tubing

Fittings

Coolant

Fans

I'm sure your aware, but make sure you get the speed control pump. The nonspeed control pump is the equivalent of 4 on the speed control pump. You may also want to consider two pumps in series if you are cooling the 4870x2 as well as anything else.

Nice parts list BTW.

I actual plan on getting the one with the speed control, but isn't that pump strong enough to pump through a GPU and a CPU?

Edit: But it would be cool to have two loops with two different color coolants.

Perhaps, I did not run it through Martins calculator which is a good guide. Martins_Guide Depends a lot on the GPU block you end up using.

BTW two loops with two different colors of coolant would look very nice.

Forgot to add: Use the GTX480. Martin thinks it may be a little more restrictive than a 360 or 240 but not by much.

Doesn't look bad at all, go for the vario pump...I'd use some 120x38mm fans, they have a higher pressure and scavenge air through a rad better then the 120x25mm do..86cfm Pana.

I like keeping my CPU loop separate from any other components, with the 2 hot GPU cards you will be dumping a lot of heat in your loop...One 480 would save you a little $$ if you have the room for it, but I would honestly think about doing 2 loops with it..Your already buying 2 rads, you would just need another pump..Put one loop on a res and the other on a t-line to save some room..Or t-line them both, a t-line just takes a little longer to bleed then a res, no big deal unless you tear your loop down a lot..

Shrouds will help on a GTX if you have enough room for them...

Why not just grab a GTX480 and be done with it? It should be plenty to cool the 4870X2 and a Nehalem....

Think he wanted to fit it internally, for a cleaner look.

If you check my Velocity Build, I already installed a 3x120mm and a 2x120mm grill in the case.

Then I would grab another pump and run two loops for the best cooling. A single one with 2 would work alright I guess.

Sorry everyone, but I still don't understand the whole shroud thing. Anyone have some pics of their shrouds? In the 2 minutes easy shroud building, is it just a fan on top of a fan casing on top of the rad? Please make it easier to understand.
