Post Loop Proposal...

Wanted some feedback on this setup - let me know what you think or if you see any issues w/ it.
D5 Vario/Swiftech MCP655 Inline 12V DC Pump
Swiftech MCR-320 Series Radiator (*EDIT* Barb Type : 1/2'' D-Tek High-Flow)
Swiftech MCRES-MICRO Hi-Flo Reservoir
Swiftech Storm Rev. 2 Extreme Performance Universal Waterblock - 1/2"
7/16" ID (5/8" OD) Masterkleer Clear PVC Tubing (10 Feet)
Petra'sTech "PT_Nuke" Concentrated Biocide (10mL)

Would it be ok to use 3 of the 120mm fans that are in my case now - i figure theyll work all the same and if im going w/ water cooling I wont need them in the case...?

Thanks

What pump?

Go with a D-tek fuzion v2 if you don't already have the storm.

I would get a pair of D-tek hi-flow barbs and not use those plastic ones.

THanks for the responses ... im acutally not buying the storm v2 from that site I got an offer for one @ 30 bucks... working.

So i think im looking at like 120 bucks for the whole loop - does that seem reasonable?

I plan to only cool the cpu w/ this loop but I i wanted to say .. cool my two 9800gtx's could I do that?

Is it worth bothering w/ the gpu water cooling .. they stay below 60C on a load anyway... even OCed... (max fan - dont mind the jet engine too much)

What pump are you planning on using?

You have some nice gear that costs alot of money so don't go cheap on the water cooling and put your gear at risk.

60c is not bad I guess but with my 3 3870's on a black ice extreme 360 rad. my temps are 30c, IMO its worth cooling them with water.

Your still going to need good air flow in your case, even with WC'ing, you really need to replace the air flow on components near the CPU socket, ram NB, removing the HSF kind if leaves those components with out much air flow..I usually just make some brackets and hang fans over the ram and use a NB HS with a fan on it...

Well if i wanted how could i cool EVERYTHING w/ water cooling? I assume it would require a bigger pump ... need some decent gpu blocks (I will probably go with 2 9800gtx's in the long run)

Is there any way to WC ram - is that even worth doing ....?

Does the system I have now work - I should just add to it gpu blocks etc...

Again.. any recomendations?

Sure, couple of mcw-60's and some ramsinks. You can add these blocks to your loop but I would then add another 320 rad. You don't necessarily need a 2nd pump, based on martin's (kick-a$$)flow rate estimator.

Your loop would then look something like:

res-->pump-->rad1-->cpu block-->rad2-->gpu1-->gpu2-->

Can I recommend you cool the cpu first to keep things more straight forward. Then when you become bored, step up to gpu cooling too. This way you can get a feel for WC'ing and then get advanced. nothing wrong with doing things piecewise.

Yup. People usually save that for last though - after EVERY single other component is under water. Ram doesn't put out very much heat so is easily cooled by a fan. I once saw someone claim they got an extra 5-10 MHz OC from the ram by going to water. not really worth it imho though.

What pump are you using now? It will cost to cool it all down for silent computing, if thats what your after...Silence or all out performance are both expensive...

The 320 Swifty rad is fine for you CPU if you use some decent cfm fans on it...A couple of GPU's will load it down..

Check out Martins thermals on a 320..Swiftech MCR32Thermals-Martin..You really want to look at the rad out temp's compared to air in temp's, if your after any kind of performance you will want it at a 5C rad out to ambient delta and under...If its just for silence and not heavy OC'ing a 10C rad out to ambient will give you around the same performance as a good HSF, thats just my opinion, Martin agrees that a 5C or lower rad out to ambient is good point for a OC'ing rig to shoot for........

What you have now will work, just guessing that you will get a D-5 vario for it...If you want to add GPU's,NB,SB and all that the cost will rise dramatically, even if you were willing to use higher cfm fans...

You will need a good pump if you use a Storm CPU block, they are very restrictive and work at their best with high head pumps...I would get a D-5 vario for it..D-5 Vario.

bit more expensive now :/ LOL

costs about 200 for this loop w/o gpu cooling...

Alright - any other suggestions - im going to stick w/ the cpu cooling just for starters - will probably buy this stuff by next week or the week after

Thanks again and im always open 4 more info just shoot me a pm or post sumtin here TY
