Default New rad choices for CPU loop.

I've found myself a specialist shop who import from the US for great prices!

The radiators i'm looking at are:

Black Ice 240GTS XFlow
Black Ice GTX Xtreme 120
Black Ice GTX Xtreme 240

This is ONLY for a CPU loop so while I'm happy to purchase the GTX Xtreme 240, I don't want to waste money.

Thankyou to everyone that helps me out with my noobie questions are repeatedly facepalming over how annoying I get

Do they have a selection? Or is it based on what you want, and they'll import it for you? Given your CPU and the fact it's the only thing you want to cool, the 240GTX will be adequate, given you have decent fans.

It really depends on the fans you want to run.

Generally high speed/high pressure types you benefit the most from a high density and double thickness radiator.

Lower speed fans will benefit the most from something low density on the fins.

They have a selection still, but it's a MUCH greater variety. These guys also import stuff from DD and EK!

Those will be good fans on a GTX. I would just go ahead and get the 240, you would be able to get by with a 120 with higher cfm fans in a push-pull on shrouds, but its hard to beat the extra surface area the 240 would give you, it will help even out your temp's a little to, they wont spike up so fast, and they will come back down faster.

Shrouds will help on it.

..How To: Make any Sized shroud in 2 minutes

..How To: Build A Performance Shroud

.. Poll: Push or pull configuration for Radiators

..Part-1-480 GTX-Temps W & W/O Shrouds

The GTS would be a decent bang for $ rad on a CPU only loop with a good pump, its just so flow restrictive that I would just go ahead and get the GTX if you are able. If your sure you wont have anything but a CPU on this loop it wouldn't be a bad rad at all with a D-5 vario or 18W DDC w/top. Shrouds will help with it also..GTS Review.

Thankyou for all the help so far. The reason for adding the 120GTX in there is it would be MUCH better suited to the amount of space I have to work with. However the 120 GTX Xtreme is $30 more than the GTS 240, and the GTX Xtreme 240 is double the price of the GTS

GTX will be good with any fans you use, but in particular, the faster (more airflow) the better.

As long as you're running at least the 2000RPM variety, the GTX would be a perfect match. At 3000RPM, the GTX really shines.

You could do pretty well with such a strong fan on a GTX, but I'd still go for the 240. Then you can dial down the fans a little and still have great performance. Better yet, run push/pull...the GTX will love that!
