Default Thoughts on this flow meter?

What are you're thoughts on this flow/temp meter Flow Meter. Do you think it would have a huge reduction in flow?

I guess it's all in what you like. I don't see much of a flow inhibitor, depends on the pump you have in your loop. I personally just use pcwizard.

Yup, it'll kill your flow just to know what it is. Better off using martin's estimator

I bought one of these. Blowing through it pretty much made my mind up ... was a waste of money

I use one of these flow meters. (as you can tell from my avatar)

To start off, this was my first watercooling loop and I wanted something that would show flow and temperature.

At about $30 its a decent deal and does what it's supposed to. The alarm goes off and background flashes when the coolant goes over the set limit. (ranges from 38c to 60 or 70c I think) (I was too cheap to buy an all-in-one pump/res/temp gauge like the one from Koolance.)

I'm sure it restricts flow to a certain extent but i've only got a loop that runs from my res to my video card, through the rad and back so I dont think i'm losing a lot of flow.

My loop still flows fast enough to move the little wheel fast enough to where I can't see the individual paddles. Seems to work fine for me.

The one thing that's annoying to me is the fact that the temp display housing is obviously designed for a flush fit into a flat surface. (even though Tt advertises it by just sticking it in the case..) So I naturally think "oh it'll just snap right into a drive bay..."

Wrong. It's just slightly smaller than a 5.25" bay and slightly larger than a single 3.5" bay which forced me to cut one of my 5.25" drive bay covers to snap the display in. Looks great now...(see pic) but at the time I didnt have a Dremel cutting tool. (took me a while with a little drill bit)

All in all, if you have a short loop or aren't too worried about flow and want to monitor temperature from a 3rd party device (always works even if the comp isn't responding) it's not bad for $30.

I might suggest the Koolance flow meter as it is designed better to reduce flow restriction, if you really really want a meter.

If you want a real high flow system than just steer clear of flow meters like others have said.
