Default GTX480 placement

I was thinking of getting a GTX 480 because hey its only $20 more than the GTX 360. But the question is how do you mount it? I have a Lian li PC-A70B but would prefer not not cut up the top. Maybe chucking a radbox under it on the top panel and having it resting on top.

anyone spread some light?

I've seen several guys use a rad-box like that, thats a great way of doing it, makes it easy to shake your rad when your bleeding it out to...You know a rad-box is a box that slides into another box, so it has 2 halves, screw each half on it and it sits nice and flat on top of your case...I don't blame you I'd grab a 480 to, you shouldn't need another rad for a while..

I made a stand for mine at one time and just stood it behind my case...

Yeah i've seen that pic before, I don't have materials/tools to make that.

So the bigger part that attaches to the rad then slides into the smaller square bit and screws in with the 4 black screws?

Yeah they just slide into each other, the screws that hold them together are around the edges, those screw holes you see there are where it mounts to fan holes in the case...

Mmm What thermochill rad box? You mean the shrouds?.....

If i had the dimensions to the swiftech i would model a metal one with improvements... then sell it

but they dont seem to be on googles 3D warehouse

edit:

that explains it.

That one doesn't look like a box that slides in a box, I wonder if they have cheaped out on the new ones? If I run across mine I'll get the measurements for you, I have no idea where it is though...Hey if I get you the measurements do I get 1% off the top for all the sales you make?.......

A couple of inches are plenty...I modded one of those once with a piece of aluminum channel on the rad-box with a couple of round headed sheet metal screws sticking out towards the rad..I made it so the heads just stuck out a 1/2" or so..Then on the rad I put a couple more pieces of aluminum channel on each side of it..I had 4 holes drilled out on the rad channel just a little bigger then the screw heads..

With it like that I could raise my rad up and down 4 spots, plus take it off to shake when bleeding...I had to make the tubing go out in a arc, but I had the fans on quick mounts studs, I would yank the fans off and flip my rad over in a 5 gallon bucket full of ice water...It would get me cold for a little bit for benching.....A poor mans chiller.....Just don't get the bright idea of adding a few pounds of dry ice to the bucket, a buddy did that to his and it broke his tubing off the rad.....It was mostly something to play with...I had conformal on my mobo and grease in my socket for condensation proofing...

Heres a pic so you can get an idea of it...It was in the highest hole there, I had been working on it..
