Default Concoct me a coolant

I couldnt find distilled water here where i live(pharmacies have very low quantity) and there's no watercooling store either. What can i use in my loop? PT nuke and other additives arent available here so what components should i mix to make a great coolant. Its my first time watercooling and im finally setting everything up. Cant decide on the coolant!

You should be able to get it at the local grocery store. Look in the aisle where they have bottled water...should be there. If not, look by the baby formula and food, might be hiding there.

If worse came to worse you could use bottled water, but I would sure try to find distilled first..

You can just use 10% any anti-freeze the rest distilled, with a ounce of iodine tincture as a biocide, or a little Lysol for a biocide, just use one or the other not both...If you cant find Lysol or iodine tincture, just use the anti-freeze and distilled, just change it when it starts looking cloudy and you will be fine...

Here are the best links on the net for coolant chemistry, especially when your in parts of the world that its hard to come by coolant..

the way i see it the water cooling system is a fish tank with no fish.
never any point in adding antifreeze since it will never get as hot as a car
or see freezing temps where it will be frozen solid.

all the stuff you need to keep the water clean and clear is at the pet shop.
they even have the stuff to turn your water blue, red, or green.

if you have a stove, a couple flasks, a funnel with a glass tube at an angle and a small rubber tube (like in a fish tank) you could boil up your own distilled water

Where do you live? every grocery store I've ever been in has it, if they really don't have it where you live do like smoke said.
All Distilled water does is prevent mineral build up, which happens over time.

PappyDan adding antifreeze helps stop corrosion, water oxidizes copper besides that copper kills fish and it will probably turn your water green for free

antifreeze is more then just an antifreeze or boilover prevention.

it contains lube and is also designed to help stabilize the PH and precvent corrosion in there.

If you really can't get distilled where you live you can make your own. Here is a simple method to construct a solar distiller.

alcohol + pH booster + distilled water + 2 drops of glycerin is what i use in a pinch.

The alcohol works as a biocide, and thins the coolant, which increases flow rates a little. The pH booster buffers the distilled water, and the alcohol, and the glycerin acts as a surfactant.

I finally found some. I live in Pakistan. It was at a grocery store far away! Meanwhile, i setup my watercooling to test it out for a day. Used regular water. Shouldnt matter much if i used it for just a day right?
