Hi,
__________________I have the following gear: Q6600 @3.01GHZ 4gb Corsair dominator @867mhz MSI 8880Ultra 660/2300 Zalman Reserator XT Hybrid Zalman 8800 Waterblock Zalman ZM-WB5 CPU Block Enermax Galaxy 1000W PSU 2 x WD Raptor 75gb Seagate Barracuda 320gb SATA2 Asus P5K-E mobo Thermaltake Kandalf case I realize that the Reserator is by no means and extreme water cooling solution, but my core temps at idle are around 45-48°C (overclocked from 2.4ghz on the B3 revision Q6600). The graphic card is a winner, running now under any load at not more than 52°C which for a factory overclocked ultra is really low. It would shut down sometimes before the water cooling due to temps upwards of 80°. I'm pretty sure the cpu is sitting as good as it's gonna get. The ambient temp in my room hovers according to the zalman unit around 30°C atm, being summer and all.....is this normal? what can I do to lower that? I have already got the core vll down as far as it goes before blue screens start popping up, the northbridge seems quite hot to the touch, the ram is warm as it is being lightly overclocked for a 1:1 with the fsb. I have seen reports of other people getting lower numbers at idle with the same cpu and Reserator XT from Zalman. BTW I'm Jim from Canada.

Jim, there are just not a lot of people here that are familar with the resonator. Let's just say it's not the favorite of the users here.
However, you may be able to put some 120 mm fans blowing across the resonator to lower your temps some, as this may speed the process of the heat leaving the Radiator. Kind of defeats the purpose of teh Zalman, but it doesn't cool well as a passive rad.

Go to your local walmart (or what ever you guys have in germany that is comparable).
Buy fan. Put fan blowing towards reservator. Lower temps! All you can really do is stick a fan on it somehow. Well you could redo your whole set up, but buying a fan is a lot easier.

In the worst case, use silent fans like the Noctua...

guys, its the reserator XT, not the big tower type.
anyway open up the XT, replace the fan with a more powerfull type. but though your OCs arent high at all, your temps are fine. id just put a silent fan over the NB/RAM.

Oops sorry. Just saw the reserator and thought it was the passive cooling one. Should have googled first. Good job ChielScape. ![]()
