Are my 53 CFM (120 x 25 mm) Lian Li case fans too weak to use on a radiator?
Thanks!

They would be ideally suited to a radiator with low fin density, such as the Thermochill PA series.

I don't think you should skimp on fans. With watercooling you're paying a lot more for the other parts, right? If you're concerned about noise, get a fan controller. If you aren't concerned about noise, get a fan controller.
Yate Loons from Petra's Tech Shop are a best bet since you seem to be on a budget. Anyone here would recommend Panaflo or Scythe Ultra Kaze fans too. I use Ultra Kaze medium speed fans on a controller and it works like a dream. That reminds me...I need to update my sig rig. EDIT: As a matter of fact, I say Yate Loons in a push-pull. If you REALLY don't want to spend the money, I guess the Lian-Li fans wouldn't be terrible. I have them and they're OK really. I've never heard of someone here not buying fans specifically for their radiator though.

I would say you could use them on the Swiftech MCR radiators since they are pretty thin and are low density. If you get something thicker or denser you should get more powerful fans.
Edit: Yate Loons == Win, enough said. D12SH would make good radiator fans (at least for 25mm thick fans). Yate Loons are also cheaper at Jab-Tech, just an observations, but it seems like most stuff is a few dollars cheaper there, I have never had a problem with an order from them, even got same day shipping on an item that I ordered at ~5pm .

One of the best fans you can put on a Thermochill radiator is the Scythe S-FLEX SFF21F. I cannot hear these fans running at all, and their performance on a radiator is hard to beat, the only downside is they are expensive, but money well spent. I also have a set of Zalman ZM-F3's which are very very good mediums speed fans, but they make much too much noise for my liking, compared to my SFLEX's.

I don't mind shelling out for good fans, I was just wondering about these because they came with my case. I'll definitely pick up some Yate Loons or Scythes. Thanks guys, +reps

If you run low cfm fans like loons, pair them up and run push pull. It'll still be very quiet but greatly improve airflow and your temps.

It all depends on the radiator type, the size of the radiator, and the heat load you're trying to dissipate as well as the performance level you are after.
This is one I just got done showing an average performance 10C delta with all three sizes of the XSPC rads. ![]() Figure out how much heat you want to dissipate here: http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp So if it was an OC dual core processor (Around 115Watts), and a dual 120mm rad, those fans would likely get you under a 5C delta. But if you've got a quad core and a GPU on there, you might need to step up the fans depending what radiator you've got.
