Default Are compression fittings reliable?

Hey guys, I'm planning on using some Danger Den compression fittings for my upcoming WC rig. Are they reliable? I'm worried about leaks. Opinions, experiences, and comments welcome!

I haven't used them but from what I understand they are the best. Just make sure you toss some plumbers tape on the barbs first! I think you more have to worry about the barbs that are screwed into your block.

Teflon tape (or plumber's tape) is only for threaded pipe. Do not use it on a compression fitting. Besides, the pressure in a liquid cooling system is so minimal, you have nothing to worry about. Just be sure that when you cut the tubing, it is perfectly straight across.

EDIT- And good luck, I'm going back to water for my new rig.

sorry...I think I may have typed that wrong...the fittings are good from what I understand. you more have to worry about the threads on the barbs sticking into the block...does that help?

Im actually thinking of going with the new feser 1/2" compression barbs, from what i understand they are slightly more free flowing than normal barbs..also the teflon tape's main use it so that barb screws into the threaded hole smoothly and does not damage the threading.

Compression fittings are, in my opinion, a lot more worry-free than regular barbs. You don't even need to tighten them all that much, the tubing is easily and perfectly sealed. I don't see how they would have a different effect on flow-rates than barbs do, though.

They don't have a pronounced tube to barb junction like a normal barb does..It has a smoother junction, less turbulence..

I have used the Koolance 1/2" ID 5/8" OD compression fittings in the past. As long as you install them properly its pretty much a for sure thing that they won't leak. I NEVER had a problem with mine. I just recently went to primochill Ghost fittings simply so I would use 7/16 and 1/2ID 3/4OD tubing allowing me more options.

Thanks for the link, Ira-K!
I'd actually seen that article before, but didn't get into the posts on different fittings.

Cheers.
