Default Help with water cooling.

Hello all, although I visit these forums often i have just decided to register and try to get help from the water cooling community about getting started.

First this is what i am about to buy, my budget is maxed at about $330 which this is well under so i have room for improvement if you think I can get something better.

D-tek Fuzion V2 63.95
D-tek Fuzion V2 Quad Core Insert 4.99
Swiftech MCP655™ 12 VDC Pump 79.95
Black Ice GTX 360 Radiator 99.98
Swiftech MCRES-Micro 18.95
6 fans 60.00
= 267.82
Might get 2 blocks for both GPU's.

Things i know i need to add is tubing, but I'm not sure on size and brand, so i need help there, Also with the cooling Fluid I am not sure what to buy.
If i am missing any other parts can you let me know what i also might need.

Also i have looked for some info on water cooling and couldnt really find any so maybe you can help answer these questions.

1. After the system is set up, how much cash well it take to upkeep each year.

2. What kind of life expectancy can i expect out of the parts I selected.

3. Do all systems eventually leak.

4.with CPU at stock what kind of temp range should i expect.

Well, I'm no water cooling expert..but I can say upkeep on them, as long as you're good PERYEAR< should be little to nothing. You just have to make sure you have enough water coolant in, I'd say every month or 2, I'd check your levels to be sure, since it evaporates (albeit slowly). I don't think you'll have to worry about leaks if your craftsmanship is good, but always be on guard anyways; it's better to be safe than sorry. If you don't move your computer around, and it doesn't leak within a month, I'd say you're set. Make sure to check your barbs though whenever you feel fit, and also do so when you check your coolant level. The temps you should expect..well, it honestly depends on the CPU, since you're running a Q6700, depending on the ambient room temperature, I'd say around 30C for idle, and I can't give a real accurate measurement on load. Like I said though, it's really dependant on your room temperature. when it's 70 F in here, my idle temps are near 35 C with this retarded QX6850, but in the winter, it's like 18-15 C. Others will surely add more and answer your questions, I hope this helps!

1. to be safe, i would change tubing yearly, and coolant every 3 to 6 months, so about $3 for cheap tubing and $18 for higher priced tubing per year, coolant is about $10 dollars every 3 to 6 months.
2.You have chosen the best there, that Fuzion will last years, may a new gasket after 2 years at 50cents, that pump has 150000 hours if i recall so id expect all your HDDs to fail before your pump does..
3.yes, hence the regular maintance of every 3 to 6 months...
4.idle temps would be about 5 degrees C less, but load temps on my PC dropped 20degrees C ( i have the same kit you want, minus the res)
1/2 inch bards with 7/16inch tubes is the favourite around here, its not too big to work with, and great for flow...

I like this on 1/2" barbs.7/16x5/8" ..This for full size, if you prefer it.1/2x3/4" ..

Coolant..Pentosin ..Biocide.PT Nuke ..I'll leave you my cleaning and set-up PDF, it has all my coolant recipe and other basic things...

The pumps are usually good for at least 4 or 5 years, be sure to get the vario version of the D-5 not the Swifty "B" model, it has 30% less flow..Thats the really the only part that will die on you, block tops can get brittle after many years of use, you'll probably be using another block by the time it gets in that shape anyway...

Pentosin and distilled water is cheap, Masterkleer tubing is cheap, I change them all out every 3 or 4 months and clean the other parts out..Some go much longer with no problems, I'm just a little freaky about keeping the internals clean...So upkeep a year $20-30 bux...

I've not used your chip so I cant really give you a gustimate, as has been said ambients and qll that have a great deal to do with it...

Some stuff to read, be sure to read the stickies here also, link in my sig..

Default thanks

Hey thanks for answering my questions everyone you have helped me feel more confident in progressing with this project.

My room is always 23c-25c and with a bad fan setup and heat sink right now my CPU is at 37c stock. An when trying to overclock the temps go to high for my level of comfort. With that said I am hopping with a good water setup to get to low-mid 20's, am I just hoping or do you think it can be possible.

another thing is having two gpus in sli, if i wanted to get blocks for them also should i get get a second pump or radiator? or is it more affective to just leave them on fan?

Also thanks for those links I have seen some of them before but I'm sure they well help me out a lot when starting to put stuff together.
