Default top mounted rad

hey guys i wanna buy a new case and i would like to mount a radiator in the top panel

i have a black ice gtxtreme 360 but wouldnt mind buying a smaller one to fit

so essentially a midtower or full tower will do fine, as long as it isnt over 150 dollars and i can mount a radiator in the top panel with minimal to no modding

thanks guys

you can't just mount the radiator on the top and hope air will flow... you have to cut a vent out on the top, or you need to mount it on the outside with lots of standoffs (similarly you could do that the inside... but that is not recommended...

unless you find a case like the aforementioned Antec 900 which has a large fan on the top.

You will most likely have to mod your case to efficiently mount a rad in the roof... There are a few cases that will allow a rad to be mounted up top without any mods but expect to drop a decent amount of change on a case like this...

If you're comfortable wielding a Dremel, I urge you to join the ranks of OCN case-modders. Find a case that appeals to you financially and aesthetically that can physically fit a triple rad and make the rad fit!!

If you want it to look clean the radiator would be mounted to the top of the case cut large hole or inside the case on top cut hole as well. I myself have a ghetto job of a top mounted rad ('77' bonevile heatercore) with only 1 stand off to support it not counting the 2 hose connection botched job. Only have 3 holes drill in top of the case 2 for tubes 1 for fan wires, its not pretty at all but it works for what i need. If you really want pictures i can get some up.

thanks guys, btw pix would be nice

i already have an antec 900 and i believe it a tad to small to fir a triple rad in the top

i am comfortable with a dremel, i dont mind modding but i owuld prefer a case that has a top mounted rad integral to its design

A triple rad on a 900 wont fit on the inside, you probably know that, but it would fit on the outside/top but lot of modding to the top plastic cover. i.e. remove 200mm fan, plastic surrounding, may be able to leave the usb and power buttons. Have the hoses hanging off the back of the case and run into the back of the case near the bottom of the expansion slots. The rad will need to be suspended in one form or another if going that route.

Heres my suspended rad not pretty but it works and not very expensive

$20 for heater core (got it 2-3yrs ago 1st rad and still holding)
$3 for material to make shroud
$10 for fans (got from cyber some silentX brand)
spare wood for support glued together

Instead of buying another case, if you decide that, I would just make or buy a Tech Station...A lot easier to work on your gear with one....I doubt you'll ever want a case again after you use one..HSPC Large Tech Station Kit 2.0 Black .

I'd just slap that rad on top of your case, with a little overhanging the back of your case, run your tubing down the back...
