Default Full Block for 4870?

I'm getting a 4870 pretty soon and I'm stuck deciding between the EK 4870 block or the Koolance block. Which one is better? I wasn't able to find any reviews on google.

Thanks,

Ken

If you MUST have a full block then the EK. NEVER EVER get a koolance until they drop the stupid ass aluminum top plate. I do however sugget simply getting a swiftech MCW-60 or a D-Tek GFX v2 and use the base plate to the stock cooler for the rest of the VRM and RAM.

I try to keep full face block to boards that have to use em like x2 cards. My 4870 at 790/1100 never breaks 36c under any load.

Only $52.95 and works great

Aluminum is the devil $109.00

Swiftech @ only $46.95

$111.95 and weighs 536g. Works works pretty good

Did I mention the D-tek and swiftech are VERY light compared to the full face. Even with base from the stock cooler on.

I had the MCW-60 before. It didn't work well in my case because of the horizontal inlets. Thanks for the info though.

I guess koolance finally learned from their mistakes. However, unless they changed the "fin" design as well I don't see tham as being all that effective. My koolance block used square pegs largely spaced. Looks like they are the same from the window in the writing. Wasn't the best cooler I have owned. In fact is was probably the worst.

I have an EK on my 2900 now. It seems to do a good job, so I think I'll stick to what I know.

Yeah, EK make great blocks. You can't go wrong with those. Though I also saw that XSPC revamped the design for their blocks a little. Looks to me like you might get superior cooling at slightly less flow-rate than with an EK. But they haven't finished the 4870 blocks yet.

Indeed, EK makes very unrestrictive blocks and they are of top quality.
