Can I add a GPU to my loop?

I've been pondering whether or not I could get away with adding a GPU to my loop. As it stands, the absolute max (small FFT in an uncomfortably hot room) temps I'm seeing off the Quad right now are 47*C. Would a 4870 push the loop over its limit? If I could add it, how much could I expect to see the CPU temp rise?
Thanks!

hey mnice!
it shouldn't push it over too much. as long as your rads get enough air it shouldn't be too bad. my rad actually doesn't get enough air at the moment but the highest i get on my cpu is 52C.

Thanks for the quick reply! I have the airflow in my case as 'tuned' as I can think to get it without cutting and meshing more areas. I have some 2K Ultra Kazes dialed down and I would like to avoid letting them loose on a 24/7 basis. The only thing I'm iffy about the high thermal output of the 4870.

What kind of rad/fan setup do you have at the moment? that will dictate how much heat ur loop can handle.

ok, ok. well have a look here for some info and what your rad can do. specifically check out temp delta as a function of heat load. You can check Martins very nice flow rate estimator, to see that that the flow with for instance, a swiftech MCW-60, isn't severely hampered and the given pick is valid - it is. So checking out the pic, with your fans, ~yate loon ds12M 1500rpm, should give ~3C delta @150 watts (a little more than just your OC'd cpu), and ~6C delta @300watts(a generous amount that should encompass reasonable OC's on your 4870).
So what does that mean? Estimate your cpu temp will be about +3-4C, you graphics card will be much cooler . sounds like a win! ![]() pic:
