Default New to the family, Need help on a Budget System

Well, I'm new to the watercooling Field. I know very little, other then the basics, but I hope to become one of the family =) I'm not looking to cool a massive system, really only my Bridges and CPU.

I'm looking at this kit, Even though its already overbudget TT_TT

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835108076

That's right... I have no budget at all... Meh, Would this help me at all? I have an AMD Brisbane 5000+ that I want past 3.3, without tipping the 50c mark. (I panic when systems hit over 50c, Long story from my AthlonXP days ... lol )

Anyway, I'm not afraid of buying waterblocks and making pumps, or vice-versa, but I need your help! Any advice would be great =p

As someone posted earlier, a cheaper swiftech kit are not only fairly inexpensive, but really good quality.
Gabe (owner of swiftech) makes excellent parts. His parts are less show but pure performance.

Here are 3 to choose from.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...e=Swiftech+Inc.

That $199 kit is not only good because it has a d5 pump, if you ever want to expand your system, you can still use these parts.

save up and get a better system, don't cheap out because you will end up just wanting to upgrade and having to need better parts.

To tell you the truth, Da, I'm out of a job, and I'm just doing this as a way to spend time and whatever money I have left in my Mod fund, which, after a new PSU and Case, will be about $100... So Id rather go with cheap now, and just swap the cheap stuff to other builds if I end up upgrading. However, I do agree with your logic. If I were to have a limitless budget, I would go with the more Expensive, reputable setup. However, I don't =/ Maybe down the line a ways...

Any one else have advice?

I do like the Swiftech h20-120. Thanks for the link!

Get a Bonnie heater core..Bonnie ..Or do your own barrbs..

..Barbs for heatercore?

Use some decent cfm fans on it, at least this size.86cfm Pana ..You have to use a shroud with a heater core to get the best cooling out of it...

..How to make a dual heater core fan shroud..

..Easy to make Shroud for the Bonnie

..How To: Build A Performance Shroud

A Via Aqua pump..How To silence a Via Aqua ..Keep it out of the case, they can be a little leaky....

A cheap CPU block....Swiftech Apogee GT

Use 10% any anti-freeze the rest distilled water..

Then just cheap tubing from the hardware store...Not pretty but it will give you pretty good performance for a CPU only loop...Some automotive worm drive clamps and your set..

I'll leave you a few links to read and my cleaning and set-up PDF, be sure to read all the stickies here, there is a amazing amount of info in them...

What are your ambient temp's like? On my BE I was hitting 12-14C over ambient @ 3500mhz or so, thats with around a 25C ambient....You should be able to keep it under 20C over ambient with a rig like that or a little better, as long as your room temp's aren't to high...

The fans and shrouds you use on it will have as much to do with temp's as anything..Build a decent air tight shroud and run at least those 86cfm Pana on it...These would be better if noise isn't really a problem..115cfm Pana .There what I use...120x38mm fans have a better pressure and can scavenge air through your rad more effectively then 120x25mm fans can...Keeping your rad out of the case will give you a little better cooling also..

Oops, I posted in the wrong thread, lol... Well, while I'm here, I don't think I'm going with WC right away, I think I'll go with a High-performance Air cooling setup for now. I just bought an Antec Ninehundred, and I don't really have the funds for WC right now, Nor do I have the need for it =p When I buy the Phenom, I'll buy a quality setup =) I plan to push the Phenom HARD ^_^
